Walking and Cycling around Loch Ness and the Highlands of Scotland

Are you a keen walker or do you prefer a stroll? There are plenty of different walks available all around us, from leisure paced walks to more adventurous terrain walks in the Scottish Highlands

In Inverness you can stroll around the banks and islands of the River Ness, and even extend your walk to the Caledonian Canal towpath click HERE

The extensive path networks in the glens and forests surrounding the high Cairngorms make this area perfect for relaxing walks. Marked trails lead through woods, moors and by rivers and lochs, often with views of the surrounding mountains. Many routes run through tracts of ancient Caledonian Pine forest, which contain magnificent, gnarled trees and support a profusion of wildlife. In several locations the spectacular scenery has been used as a backdrop for filming the BBC TV series 'Monarch of the Glen'

There is a plethora of cycle rides around Inverness. And the 80 mile Great Glen Cycle Route runs from Fort William to Inverness
